DEADLY POODLES

© Deadly Poodles

The opening play of this year‘s SCHÄXPIR Festival is at the same time the last premiere of this season at the Landestheater Linz. Since the Schauspielhaus on the prom is currently being rebuilt and there is no theatre but rather a construction site, the Landestheater Linz and SCHÄXPIR will stage their co-production at a very special venue: the Ursulinen hall In the Upper-Austrian Cultural Quarter. In her ≫Deadly Poodles≪ the successful author, Barbi Marković, portrays five figures as they exert their energy, have an accident or quite simply go for a walk. Dancing, swimming and healthy eating. And then there were the poodles. In essence, they hold up a mirror to us. And they provide a show that is as exaggerated as perhaps only our presence itself can be. With ≫Deadly Poodles≪, Barbi Marković builds on the success she enjoyed with ≫Minihorror≪. She sheds light on the fitness and optimisation craze, which she transforms into a setting that is as comical as it is grotesque. With lots of music and a delightful Bernhardian exaggeration, poodles get up to mischief on stage and let us know in one of their songs: We are the best on the market!
