SCHÄXPIR is GREEN!

So that less waste REMAINS
SCHÄXPIR is a climate and environmentally friendly festival

The motto of the 13th SCHÄXPIR Festival for Young Audiences is WHAT REMAINS. From 3 to 14 June 2025, the programme will tackle the really big issues - cross-cultural, diverse, multidimensional - and negotiate them in a variety of narrative forms with plenty of theatrical magic. But we are also asking ourselves the off-stage question ‘What remains’? And that leads us directly to the topic of sustainability!

SCHÄXPIR is also a green event in 2025 and doesn't make a mess. We will once again be supported and advised by the team of the Upper Austrian Climate Alliance.

These are the cornerstones that guide us in planning and organising our event in a resource-saving, ecologically and socially sustainable, fair and responsible manner.

  • Communication: efficient planning of printed materials, use of paper from sustainably managed forests for the highest-circulation printed materials
  • Mobility: Use of public transport and bicycles at the festival, electric car for the mobility of the organisation team between the venues

  • Ticketing: Resource-saving ticket system for the 2nd time in a row

  • Waste management: reducing waste by separating and avoiding waste, for example by favouring reusable products

  • Catering: regional products and reusable dishes and containers for festival catering

  • Cooperation: our cooperation partners and venues also include numerous Climate Alliance businesses that are committed to values such as sustainability and climate protection

  • Accessibility: social responsibility is also particularly important to us. This includes barrier-free access to theatre art - also with regard to age limits, financial and social thresholds. We are currently planning to translate one production into Austrian sign language.

  • Funding for travel expenses: It is important to us to enable as many students as possible to visit the festival in Linz. The special festival atmosphere, the chance to meet other visitors and artists and the range of additional educational programmes make for a unique festival experience! For Upper Austrian school classes, the province of Upper Austria is subsidising the travel costs to the festival in Linz by providing a travel allowance of 50 % of the travel costs (bus/train). More information
