The 13th edition of the SCHÄXPIR festival will take place from 3 to 14 June 2025 and is entitled ‘What remains’. Once again, Sara Ostertag and Julia Ransmayr are the artistic directors of SCHÄXPIR. The theatre festival for young audiences is dedicated to the questions of where we come from and where we are going. The great global stories are told - stories of creation, myths, fairy tales, birth and death - across cultures, multidimensional and diverse.

‘SCHÄXPIR is a place for young theatre, a theatre for everyone,‘ emphasise Ostertag and Ransmayr: “In 2025, we are embarking on the mission 'What remains’, which will be fulfilled with a great variety and a wide range of plays."

For the first time, the festival will take place over eleven days in 2025. This means that schools will have enough time to attend the performances and, thanks to the Whitsun holidays, families will also be able to enjoy the SCHÄXPIR activities in Linz.

A special collaboration for SCHÄXPIR will take place in 2025 with the Landestheater Linz. Together, they will finalise the 2024/25 repertoire of the drama department under the new director David Bösch and celebrate its premiere during the festival.

‘The SCHÄXPIR theatre festival has already become a fixture in the hearts of culture enthusiasts in Upper Austria. It is a veritable highlight especially for young audiences and will once again enrich the Upper Austrian culture and theatre landscape with national and international productions in 2025,’ emphasises Governor Thomas Stelzer.
